“Khmer in Thai, Artistic Ear Jewelry, Beautiful Beads, Wisdom of Loong Puan” When the topic of silverware in the Northeastern region arises the answer naturally is here for many admirers. Loong (Uncle) Puan Jiewthong was originally from Buriram but moved to Surin when he was 13 working as a goldsmith with his brother-in-law. Later he switched from gold to silver. He started with ancient silverware but later developed it to be more modern but never neglecting the ancient style. Once, Loong Puan created a silver belt which he presented to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. In creating a silver belt, normally there is only one pattern which is generally the “Ranghok Bloom” pattern, but that time he incorporated 13 patterns into an intricate belt. The Crown Princess after receiving and admiring the belt promptly return it to him so that the people visiting him could also admire the belt. Ban Khwao Sinarin is a village renowned for silk weaving and silverware made from 98% silver from the experienced hands of skilled smiths of Khmer heritage in Thailand which is the identity of the village. Visitors can watch silk weaving, silversmiths at work and purchase local products.
