Ban Alue was established in 1916 when they moved from Ban Samroangtarb, Ban Takien where “Gui” was spoken locally. The reason for the move was due to a widespread epidemic. The name “Ban Alue” sounds strange and is in fact derived from the name of a tree which the villagers used as a remedy to cure sickness. In those days the hospital was far away and herbs were used as medication. In 2007 this village was established as a Gui Culture village and in 2009 it was opened as a tourist destination called Alue Homestay and was received the Homestay Standard until the present.
In 2013 the Department of Community Development organized trainings for the village and opened the village as a destination for natural dyed silk with a budget of 2,000,000 Baht. Ancient style houses, Village name sign were built and other aspects were added and the Tourism Authority supported the landscaping and renovations of touristic spots for 3-4 years running.
The communities activities presented to tourist are 1. Paying homage to the Pu Ta shrine ritual 2. Natural Dye process 3. Ancient House of Wan Proh Hom 4. The cycle of cultivating silk worms 5. Community Livelihood 6. Hand Embroidery on Silk 7. Tie-Dye Methods 8. Traditional Blessing Ceremony 9. Dance of the Medium and 10. Accommodation at Alue Homestay.
