The Elephant World Project is an Elephant Study Center of the Provincial Administration Organizatoin of Surin Province. It is an extension of the “Elephants Repatriation and Surin Hometown Development Project” with the concept of creating a comprehensive tourist destination in relation to elephants in tandem with elephant conservation and the Guay Folk Elephant keeping way of life which is one of a kind in the world. The project aims to cultivate a fertile elephant food and herbs forest to be able to facilitate the repatriation of the elephants to their original domicile, to have sufficient food, to have ample medicinal herbs for the elephants, availability of occupation and to enable the Guay Folk to sustain their families and communities. It is a natural classroom giving the visitors the opportunity to learn and study the topic extensively. The Surin Provincial Administration Organization has therefore, recruited assistance from all related agencies to develop this project to truly become The One and Only Elephant World as a tourist destination where humans and elephants co-exist happily together.

The Elephant World is situated at Taklang village, Krapo Sub-district, Tha Toom District, Surin where elephant keeping is widely practiced and embedded in the culture of the Guay Folk who possess deep knowledge of handling elephants passed down the generations until the present time as well as the skill of capturing and domesticating elephants.
